Family Reading Night - Thank You, Fouse Staff!!!
THANK YOU to our Fouse staff for such an entertaining Family Reading Night! All of our "little movie lovers" and their families really enjoyed it! We truly appreciate all of the time and effort they put into making this event so special!
PTO Restaurant Night - Raising Cane's on Tuesday, March 13th
Mark your calendars for Fouse PTO's Raising Cane's night this Tuesday, March 13th from 11 am - 10 pm. Plan on stopping over to eat/carry-out lunch/dinner at the Polaris Parkway location and they will donate 15% of the total sales back to Fouse! Simply present the attached flyer or show the electronic copy on your phone at the checkout. A paper copy of the flier was sent home with all students this past Friday. Thanks so much for your support!
Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Reading Month
March is National Reading month and to celebrate this Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Company is offering a free small popcorn of any flavor when your child completes at least 6 hours of reading in the month of March. They are located at 15 N. State St. in Westerville! What a great treat for all that reading your kids are doing! The reading log is attached below.
Student Council Pop Tabs Quarterly Contest - Ends March 7th
The student council pop tab collection just ended. Congratulations goes to Mrs. Nanchuk's 1st grade class for collecting the most pop tabs! The class won a sweet treat! The last pop tab collection contest of the year begins Monday and goes through May 9th! Keep on collecting and sending them in! Student Council appreciates your support of this wonderful program!
A+ Employee Recognition Program - Due March 16th
Applications are being accepted through Friday, March 16th, for the Spring 2018 Westerville City Schools A+ Employee Recognition Program, which celebrates extraordinary staff members. Honorees will be invited to attend a Board of Education meeting where the superintendent and board members will recognize their contributions. Awards are presented twice during each school year – once in the fall, and once in the spring – to employees who distinguish themselves through a single or ongoing demonstration of exemplary performance.
The selection committee’s decision is guided by evaluating how each nominee’s actions demonstrate:
- Support of the district’s Mission Statement, which is, “To prepare students to contribute to the competitive and changing world in which we live;”
- Willingness to go above and beyond normal expectations in support of students; and
- Behavior consistent with one or more of the district’s values, including respect, inclusiveness, community, communication, collaboration, innovation, nurturing, trust and accountability.
Not all nominees will receive an award. Nomination forms can be found on the Westerville City School District’s website, www.wcsoh.org.
Westerville City Schools Magnet Program Applications Due March 16th
Families interested in the Westerville City School District Magnet Program for the 2018-2019 school year may now apply online at www.wcsoh.org/magnet. Applications must be submitted no later than March 16th, 2018. Any application received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Technology In Our Classrooms Event - March 19th
Westerville Partners for Education and Westerville City Schools present Technology in Our Classrooms event. Learn about what, how and why technology is being used to enhance our student learning in Westerville! This event will be Monday, March 19th at Pointview Elementary from 7-8:30 pm. Please see the attached flyer for additional details.
Westerville Education Foundation, Starry Night - April 8th
On Sunday, April 8th, from 2-6pm, bring your family to the 6th annual Starry Night learning festival, sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Westerville Partners for Education, at Westerville North High School. The festival will offer experiences with experts from Columbus’ premier educational, business, and community organizations. Geared toward students in preschool through 8th grade and their caregivers and families, the event highlights the connection between all the arts and science—with the theme, “Art and Science – Fueling Imagination”.
See how crafts transformed from art to engineering & Science, how things work, and learn to work with tools. Westerville Partners for Education organizes this event as an annual opportunity for families to learn together and to develop relationships with community organizations. Starry Night allows us to go out and find the most fascinating educational organizations in the Columbus area and put them in a room with kids and families.

Reminder from the Fouse Health Clinic
A quick reminder of clinic guidelines for sending student’s home from school:
1. Fever of 100 degrees or higher
2. Vomiting
3. Diarrhea
4. Undiagnosed rash or head lice
Remember: If your child is sent home with a fever or wakes up with a fever, the student needs to stay home for 24 hours after they are fever free without the help of medication.
If a doctor diagnoses your child with an illness, please let the attendance clerk know what the diagnosis is when calling your child’s absence in. Thank you for your help!
Fouse Health Clinic - Clothing Donations
The school clinic has a great need for gently used clothing. If you have any unwanted clothing, please consider donating it to the clinic. Items in the greatest need include the following:
· Sweatpants/Track Pants
· Underwear
· Jeans
· Shorts
· Socks
· Shirts
· Tennis Shoes/Slip-on Shoes (no boots)
Items are needed in sizes 4-14 for both boys and girls. If you have any donations, please drop them off in the office at Fouse. Thanks very much for your consideration; your donation is greatly appreciated!

Winter Box Tops Contest Winner!
Congratulations to Second Grade, the winner of our Winter Box Tops Contest!!! They turned in the most Box Tops...1,303! Every second grader won a Fouse Fox drawstring bag. The bags were distributed by their teachers on Friday.
During this 2017-2018 school year, we raised $1,150 with Box Tops! That's fantastic! All proceeds are used to fund valuable programs that directly benefit students, including field trips & alternative education experiences in the classroom. The PTO thanks you and your families for supporting this program! Keep collecting Box Tops and we look forward to counting them towards our next contest in the Fall!

Family Reading Night - March 7th
LIGHTS! CAMERA! READ! This year's Fouse Family Reading Night will be held on Wednesday, March 7th from 6:30 - 8pm at Fouse. We will be celebrating reading and movies as we focus on books that were made into movies. Come join the Fouse family for an evening of fun, interactive literacy activities. Please see the attached flier.
Summer Camp & Activities Expo - March 7th
Save the Date! The ever-popular Summer Camp & Activities Expo takes place Wednesday, March 7th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Westerville North High School. Admission is free. Get a head start planning activities for your kids this summer. Many vendors will be taking early-bird reservations.
The Summer Camp & Activities Expo is presented by Westerville Parent Council and is our largest community event and only fundraiser. Thank you for supporting this WPC tradition!

Student Council Pop Tabs Quarterly Contest - Ends March 7th
Each quarter, Student Council hosts a contest to see which classroom can collect the most Pop Tabs. A new contest has been underway for the 3rd quarter. You have until Wednesday, March 7th to turn in your aluminum Pop Tabs from cans. The winning class will win a sweet treat! The Pop Tabs are donated to The Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, which uses them to raise thousands of dollars for their program every year. Rotary Club of Westerville "Pick the Parade Theme" Contest - Due March 9th
Everyone loves the Rotary Club of Westerville July 4th Parade! You can play a big part in it by picking the winning theme for this year's parade! All Westerville students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade are invited to enter. The prize is $100 and a place of honor in the big parade! For full details, please see the attached entry form.
